  • Tutoring tailored to you: AI analyzes patterns and adapts content. If you have trouble understanding loops or recursion, the system detects this and offers you specific exercises for that.
  • Real-time correction: You no longer have to wait days to receive a note. The platforms offer instant fixes, preventing you from getting stuck on common errors.
  • Human-AI Collaboration: Pair programming is encouraged, where AI suggests solutions that the student can improve, increasing confidence and reducing anxiety.

You’ve probably heard of ChatGPT, but there are platforms designed specifically for teaching, each with its own personality. Here I present some highlights in the research:

Khanmigo (the Socratic tutor)

This literally acts as your “programming partner.” It suggests code in real time and is free for students and educators. It is great for speeding up prototyping, although it requires that you use it wisely so as not to become dependent.

Kira (the assistant professor)

Ideal for school environments. Kira offers a built-in code editor and automatic grader that works 24/7. This allows teachers to delegate routine correction and focus on teaching the creative part of programming.

Not everything is rosy: The “challenge” of AI

As in any great revolution, there is fine print. Experts warn about the risk of overdependence: if a student blindly trusts automatic suggestions, he or she runs the risk of not retaining deep knowledge or basic foundations.
