On October 27, 2025, Grokipedia debuted, the encyclopedia generated by artificial intelligence created by xAI, the company founded by Elon Musk.

Its arrival caused an immediate stir: it was presented as a direct alternative to Wikipedia and as the first step towards what Musk aspires to call in the future “Encyclopedia Galactica”, a universal library of knowledge produced and verified by AI.

In its first weeks it accumulated between 800,000 and 900,000 articles. The figure is considerable for such a recent launch, although it is still far from the more than seven million entries that Wikipedia in English concentrates.

Still, the project has sparked a global debate: Can an AI-generated encyclopedia compete with one written and reviewed by humans for more than two decades?
