Elon Musk: Business visionary and advocate of responsible AI

Elon Musk is a visionary entrepreneur, engineer and investor born in South Africa in 1971, whose transversal ambition has reshaped sectors such as electric mobility, space exploration and artificial intelligence.

Its role in the artificial intelligence ecosystem has been fundamental both in the initial financing of open research and in the creation of cutting-edge laboratories and in the constant warning about the ethical and existential risks of unregulated superintelligence.

OpenAI co-foundation and security vision

In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI with Sam Altman, Ilya Sutskever and other technology leaders, providing a key investment to create a non-profit organization dedicated to developing secure, open source AI. Although he left the board of directors in 2018 due to strategic disagreements over marketing and security focus, his founding drive was decisive.

Tesla Autopilot, FSD and Neuralink

Through Tesla, Musk leads one of the largest deployments of computer vision on the planet using real-time neural networks and the Dojo supercomputer, applying AI to the challenge of full autonomous driving (FSD) and humanoid robotics with Optimus.

At the same time, with Neuralink it seeks to directly connect the human brain with computing to treat neurological pathologies and prepare the human species to coexist with higher-level AI systems.

The birth of xAI and Grok models

In 2023 Musk founded xAI with the explicit mission of “understanding the true nature of the universe.” Backed by the huge Colossus cluster in Memphis (with more than 100,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs), xAI has launched the Grok family of models and the Aurora visual model, consolidating itself as one of the main competitors in the sector.
