The story of Clément Delangue is that of a young man who turned technological curiosity into a global revolution. Born in the mid-1980s in La Bassée, a small town in northern France, he grew up in a modest family where travel was a rare luxury.

However, at the age of 12, his first computer opened a “window to the rest of the world”, awakening an entrepreneurial instinct that would lead him, at only 16 years old, to import vehicles from China to sell them on eBay, becoming one of the biggest sellers on the platform in his country.

The turn towards artificial intelligence

After training at ESCP Business School and completing computer science courses at Stanford, Delangue had his first serious contact with machine learning at Moodstocks, a computer vision startup that was eventually acquired by Google.

Although he rejected a job offer at the technology giant to found his own educational platform, it was in 2016 when, together with Julien Chaumond and Thomas Wolf, he gave life to Hugging Face. What started as a fun chatbot for teens in the spirit of “AI Tamagotchi” changed the course of the industry in 2018 by launching the Transformers bookstore.

A vision based on transparency

As CEO, Delangue has transformed Hugging Face into what many call the “GitHub of machine learning.”. Their philosophy is clear: open source is the best tool to mitigate risks such as algorithmic biases, allowing the community to audit and improve models transparently.

Today, its platform is a fundamental pillar for millions of users and companies, consolidating itself as a key piece to understand who is who in current artificial intelligence, especially in the field of ethical and open collaboration.

Despite leading a company worth billions, he continues to find happiness in the constant struggle for innovation, drawing inspiration from Camus’s myth of Sisyphus.
