YouTube announced a series of new features based on generative artificial intelligence that aim to transform the way content creators produce videos, interact with their communities and expand their audiences globally.

In an event titled “Made On YouTube”, the platform’s CEO, Neal Mohan, along with other executives, presented these innovations, which seek to enhance users’ creativity without replacing it, allowing content to be generated in a more efficient and accessible way.

These developments are part of a broader trend in the technology industry, where companies such as Microsoft, Meta and OpenAI have also begun to integrate generative AI into their platforms.

Here we present in detail the main features that will come to YouTube in the coming months.

Dream Screen and Veo: AI at the service of visual creativity

One of the most impactful additions is the integration of Veo, an AI model developed by Google DeepMind that will be incorporated into Dream Screen, a previously released feature for YouTube Shorts.

Dream Screen allows creators to generate AI-based visual backgrounds for their short videos, and with the arrival of Veo, the creative possibilities expand even further.

With this new tool, creators will be able to generate video clips of up to six seconds simply from text descriptions.

For example, if a creator needs an additional clip to complete their story, they can ask Veo to generate a video that integrates into their existing content.

These AI-generated videos will be clearly labeled with watermarks and a notice that they were created by artificial intelligence, using Google’s SynthID technology, ensuring transparency with viewers.

Examples of Dream Screen usage include BookTubers who can immerse themselves in the landscapes of the books they are reviewing or fashion designers who can showcase their creations in unique settings, all thanks to AI video generation.

The Inspiration tab: a virtual creative partner

One of the biggest challenges for content creators is the dreaded “blank page.” In response to this issue, YouTube has revamped its “Inspiration tab in YouTube Studio, turning it into a “creative partner” powered by generative AI.

This tool will help creators generate ideas, titles, thumbnails and scripts, offering a starting point for complete projects.

Additionally, starting next year, creators will be able to access this tab from anywhere on the site, whether by reviewing their comments, exploring other videos, or reviewing their own catalog of content.

This will streamline the creative process, allowing creators to turn loose ideas into finished projects more quickly.

Global reach with Auto-Dubbing

One of YouTube’s key goals is to allow creators to reach international audiences without language barriers. To achieve this, the platform is expanding its auto-dubbing tool.

So far, this feature has been tested on a small number of channels, but in the coming months it will be expanded to hundreds of thousands of creators, covering a greater number of languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian, among others.

An interesting feature is that YouTube is working on technology that will allow voiceovers to not only translate content, but also preserve the tonality, intonation and energy of the original audio, making translated content feel more authentic and natural to audiences.

New interactive features for the community

YouTube not only focuses on making content creation easier, but also on improving the relationship between creators and viewers.

To do this, they are transforming the comments tab into Community Hub, a space where creators will be able to manage their interactions more effectively.

This tool will include AI-based response suggestions, adapted to the creator’s style, making it easier to interact with fans’ comments.

Another novelty is the creation of Hype, a feature designed to highlight emerging creators. Users will be able to hype videos, which will give them greater visibility in a ranking of emerging creators.

Already tested in Brazil, Turkey and Taiwan, this feature will soon expand to more markets, giving new talent a chance to shine and increase their reach.

In addition, the platform is working on the expansion of the Communities on the creators’ channels.

This new space will allow fans to interact with each other, share content related to the channel and create a deeper sense of belonging.

Monetization: more ways to make money with YouTube

In the last three years, YouTube has paid more than $70 billion to creators, artists and media companies.

To continue expanding revenue opportunities, YouTube has introduced new live monetization features, such as Gifts.

Through this tool, viewers will be able to send digital gifts in vertical live streams, offering creators a new source of income.

Additionally, the platform is expanding YouTube’s affiliate purchasing program to more markets, including Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

This program allows creators to share products with their followers and earn sales income, which further strengthens business opportunities within the platform.

The future of YouTube, powered by AI

With these new features, YouTube hopes to position itself as one of the most innovative platforms in the use of generative artificial intelligence for content creation.

From tools that simplify idea generation and video creation, to features that break language barriers and improve engagement with audiences, YouTube continues to evolve to meet the needs of its creators.
