Over the last few years, the esports industry has experienced exponential growth. The leading cities host the shows and manage to fill stadiums, halls with a large number of people who gather to see their favorite players. They also have web platforms with easy access where they get millions of views.
Millions of people follow any event that includes esports live or broadcast. Managing to break established records. The Spanish video game industry has managed to generate 1,530 million euros this last year. Figures that manage to improve those industries that have been in motion for years, such as music or cinema. Which benefits esports.
Brands have realized the value of this industry and have become involved in the sector through initiatives: sponsorship, organization of events, generation of audiovisual content, national and international leagues… However, there is no clear business model. Being a new and young industry, it has been organized as best it could, through intuition, improvements on the fly, and of course, trials and errors.
Given this need, EADE, a Malaga university, and Vodafone Giants, a powerful esports company, present their master’s degree in Esports Business Management. They perceive the lack of management and the need for improvement.
The novelty of the master’s degree is that this has not been designed from an academy, but from companies. Both the content and the teaching. The interesting thing about this master’s degree is that you have to complete 150 hours of internship in companies such as Vodafone Giants, Play The Game or Dreamhack Valencia. This way, everything learned can be put into practice and the techniques and skills within esports business development can be improved.
This master’s degree in Esports Business Management is organized by EADE, in collaboration with Vodafone Giants and the Digital Content Pole of the Malaga City Council.
