Surely, on several occasions, you have seen a small square full of black and white geometric shapes stuck on a container or on a label. You probably also know that it can be scanned with a mobile phone, that it directs you to a website and that it is called QR code. These codes are already well known to the majority of the population, but… Do companies know how to use them attractively for their audience?
The first thing you need to know is what exactly this technology is about. Well, a QR code (Quick Reponse) is nothing more than a content storage system within a two-dimensional barcode. Scanning it with a device automatically accesses that information. The most common thing is that the destination is the corporate website of the product where the code is stamped.
However, this use can be boring and unproductive for the user. For this reason, the best way to include QR codes in a company’s marketing plan is to contact professionals in this sector. Creativity in the creation of the utility and its subsequent monitoring will be essential to ensure success and verify that the response to the code is high.
Imagination will be the main tool here to design original ideas such as adding QR to business cards so that the contact is saved directly on the scanning phone; o create coupons with discounts and gifts for customers; or show a video of the making off of an advertisement… The possibilities are endless. Furthermore, the code itself can be the object of attraction if it is designed with striking colors and shapes, thus avoiding the classic black and white square.
Now, we are going to put the QR code on hold and take NFC technology for a walk. Said like this, we could imagine that it is a complex system of some type of computer program. But most of us have used NFC (Near Field Communication) in our daily lives.
When we get on the bus, we bring the voucher closer to a reader and they automatically let us pass. Many of us use cards that, just by holding them close to the dataphone, lower your balance in a moment. That’s NFC,short-range wireless technology. The operation is simpler than that of QR codes, since a prior scan is not needed, the data travels to the device instantly.
The uses that we have mentioned above are the classic ones: useful, but boring. Therefore, as with QR, if you want to incorporate this technology into your company, you have to be creative. Machines can be installed in a store that record customer purchases and provide some type of loyalty reward. Or it may also be interesting to add information points about a company or an institution in places close to the business, it is a way to attract attention and promote yourself that users will not overlook.
We already know these two new friends, now we just need to continue maintaining a relationship with them. As with any friendship, you have to know how to take care of it. So you have to give it a try and think about how it can be improved. If we offer imagination and business thinking, QR and NFC will help us advance our business.
